"Florence, presented a new technology from the United States for Parkinson's research and therapy, used for the first time in Italy, thanks to the support of the Rotary Clubby the Florentine association 'Un gancio al Parkinson'.
Thanks to the 'Sensory Station', this is the name of the technology, improvements in balance, hand-eye reactivity and visual abilities have been recorded in some 20 patients suffering from Parkinson's disease.

In podcast the interview with the president of the association 'Un Gancio al Parkinson', Maurizio Bertoni, by Gimmy Tranquillo.

The Sensory Station, it was explained, has long been in use in the United States at university research centres and at professional sports clubs to improve athletes' visual acuity and visio-motor reactivity, or for functional recovery.

In Italy, the non-profit organisation tested and trained 21 Parkinson's patients and found improvements. The study was conducted in collaboration with the University of Florence, the Ohio University and theUniversity of California at San Diego.

'We found a somewhat surprising scenario,' explains Maurizio Bertoni, president of the association. 'At the end of the first phase, the results of the tests recorded were better than the initial ones, albeit with different magnitudes, showing how the 'Boxing for Parkinson's' work protocol has positive effects on some of the symptoms. The final tests showed that specific training with Senaptec led to a further improvement in reaction time and hand-eye coordination.'"
