La Nazione: 'Rotary Club also in the field against Parkinson's'

From La Nazione: 'From the Rotary Club a unique instrument in Italy for assessing the visual and visuomotor deficits of Parkinson's patients.

This is what the Rotary Club of Florence donated, in recent days, to the association 'Un Gancio Al Parkinson', committed to combating the symptoms of the disease with boxing training.

The instrumentation, called the 'Sensory Station', assesses visual impairments that are often present in Parkinson's patients. There are few studies evaluating and quantifying these deficits in this type of patient.

The association therefore wants to fill this research gap, not least through this state-of-the-art instrumentation, which has long been used in the USA.

The machine is already being used at the Centro Training Lab in Florence, the association's headquarters, which is hosting patients free of charge, to conduct research that will be led by the university's Department of Neurology and Pharmacology, in collaboration with Ohio University and Duke University.

This will be the first ever worldwide study on Parkinson's patients using this instrumentation'.

Thank you Rotary Club Firenze.
