Dance, boxing and art: therapy for the over 65s

Proud of participate to this splendid initiative!

Presented five free initiatives of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze project, in collaboration with Fresco Parkinson Institute, L'Immaginario, the Municipality, Ausl Toscana Centro and Bargello.

Culture becomes therapy, brings well-being and improves cognitive and neurological abilities.

There are five initiatives dedicated to the over-65s that are entirely free of charge as part of the Fondazione CR Firenze's "Welfare Culturale" project, realised in partnership with Fresco Parkinson Institute and L'Immaginario Associazione Culturale, with the support of the Municipality, Ausl Toscana Centro and the Bargello Museums.

They range from dance to improve the quality of life of people with Parkinson's disease, to slow guided tours in exhibition halls of some Florentine museums.

As explained yesterday by Gabriele Gori, director general of the Fondazione CR Firenze, culture becomes a powerful tool to make the over-65 population feel good, creating opportunities for socialisation and new stimuli. The ageing of the population brings with it, in fact, problems often linked to loneliness and illness. Another objective of the "Cultural Welfare" project is to promote the participation of neurodiverse persons in the cultural life of the community by involving them in museum activities. "The ageing of our community calls for priority attention to the issue of welfare, which we support and in synergy with the main local institutions," states Gabriele Gori, "and which we know will unfortunately increase in the next twenty years. In addition to promoting Cultural Welfare, we will soon contribute to the operation of 'Casa Parkinson', soon to be inaugurated, by providing resources to cover the facility's staff".
